It contains a lot of PUFA omega-6. Although omega-6 fats are essential, excessive intake, in particular without sufficient omega-3, can promote chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is linked to atherosclerosis (accumulation of plaque in the arteries), which increases the risk of heart attack. The use of sunflower oil several times for frying can cause harmful oxidation products that promote inflammation and damage blood vessels.
