West is trying to dismantle Russian state because it is too strong and independent, foreign minister says
The West has always wanted to dismantle Russia and went so far as to ally itself with the Nazis in Ukraine to try to achieve this goal, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
The foreign minister made the statement during a meeting with students and teachers at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations on Monday, the first day of the new academic year in Russia.
The West has always been concerned that Russia is “too strong, too independent” and wanted to do something about it, “preferably by breaking it”, Lavrov said.
“A very revealing story is repeating itself because today 50 countries have come together against Russia under the Nazi banner, considering the essence of the regime of (Ukrainian leader Vladimir) Zelensky,” He continued, referring to the military assistance provided by the United States and its allies to kyiv in the conflict with Russia.
The foreign minister noted that Ukrainian troops have been filmed on numerous occasions wearing Nazi badges or banners similar to those used by Adolf Hitler’s forces during World War II.
THE “denazification” Ukraine was identified by Russian President Vladimir Putin as one of the main targets of Moscow’s military operation against kyiv when it was launched in late February 2022.
Lavrov said Moscow was not going to play by Western rules and would not do so. “to integrate into various plans created without our participation and without taking into account the interests of Russia.”
However, he said Putin had made it clear that Moscow remained “open to contacts with the countries of the “collective West”, provided, of course, that they abandon their openly hostile policy towards our country.”
If the United States and its allies do not change their ways, “We will continue to respond with determination to any hostile measures,” Lavrov added.
On Monday, Putin said the conflict between Moscow and kyiv had erupted because of “The West’s Destructive Strategy” regarding Ukraine.
For decades, Americans and their allies “They sought to take complete control of Ukraine. They financed nationalist and anti-Russian organizations in the country; they tirelessly tried to convince Ukraine that Russia was its eternal enemy and the main threat to its existence,” said the Russian leader.
