# 5 Seeds Bell, Smith & Douglass Drop Events (Day 3 Prelims Scratches)

2025 US national championships

Day 3 Preliminary heat sheet

The fifth seeded in the 400 images for men, Kieran Smithscratched the event. Smith, who trains with the Florida Gators, finished 6th in 200 free from last night, and although he could book a place in Singapore as a reserve on the free 4 × 200 relay, with the addition of the 1950s of the stroke and the change of priorities, it is much more difficult than in the past.

Smith, who anchored the silver medal winning 4 × 200 free in Paris last summer, still has the free 400, where he is the 2nd series, and the 200 IM where he is the 3rd head of his schedule.

Smith was not the only fifth seed to abandon an event today as Lucy Bell (5th – 400 IM) and Kate Douglass (5th – 50 chest) also striped. Bell, the NCAA champion on the 200 chest, finished 7th in this final last night, an event that Douglass won. Douglass, for its part, has chosen to get out of the 50 breastpins this morning after adding another individual event to its range with thanks to its 2nd place in the 50 butterfly.

After having achieved a 200 -meat victory, Stanford de Bell teammate, Bell teammate, Caroline BRICKER chose not to swim the 100 fly. Instead, Bricker will turn to a second event at her Singapore calendar because she is now the 7th seeded at 400 IM, an event she won at the NCAA and by chance the first three heads of series this morning.
