Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a rally in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar where he addressed a range of issues while highlighting the opposition’s shortcomings.

Addressing the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Sankhnad’ rally in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, which goes to polls on April 19, he also said that the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections bears the imprint of the Muslim League.

Here are five key takeaways from Modi’s rally:

– Lashing out at the erstwhile Congress-led Chhattisgarh government, PM Modi said, “Under Congress rule, corruption had become the identity of the country, and the party thought it had the right to loot . Since Independence, Congress has neglected the needs of the poor for decades and never understood their suffering. »

– Recalling the pandemic period, the Prime Minister said, “People said what will happen to the poor during the COVID-19 pandemic, but I said I will give them free vaccines and rations,” adding that “Thanks to the efforts of my government, 25 million people have crossed the poverty line”

– Speaking at the rally in Chhote Ambal village, organized in support of BJP candidates Mahesh Kashyap (Bastar) and Bhojraj Nag (Kanker), Modi said it is the poor who suffer the most from corruption. “Corruption destroys the rights of the poor. Before 2014, scams worth several lakh crore rupees were committed,” he said, adding that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi himself had admitted that only 15 paise out of every rupee allocated for development work reached to the rightful beneficiary.

– Modi said Congress and other opposition parties are holding rallies to save the corrupt, but they must understand that wrongdoers will go to jail no matter how much they threaten. ‘This is Modi’s guarantee,’ PM said

– Criticizing the Congress and other constituents of the INDIA bloc for declining the invitation for the consecration of idols at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Modi said, “The Ram Navami festival is not far away. This time people will get a glimpse of our Ram Lalla in Ayodhya in a big temple and not in a tent. »
