Five general authorities of the 1970s of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the last days will be released from their assignments and given the emeritus status from August 1, 2025.
President Dallin H. OAKS, the first advisor of the first presidency, presented the upcoming changes for the five as part of the substances of the general church authorities and the general officers during the Saturday morning session of the general conference of April 2025 on April 5. Sixteen new 1970s of the general authority, as well as a new general presidency of young men.
The five 1970s of the general authority which will be released from the assignments and emeritus status on August 1 are:
All together, the five totaled almost 80 years of combined service as a general authority of the 1970s.
Brother Baxter was maintained as general authority seventy on April 1, 2006. He had previously served in the presidency of the Western region in Europe and as president of the Pacific region until he undergoes surgery for a brain tumor. He is currently on medical leave of his mission at the church headquarters in Salt Lake City.
Brother Baxter obtained a Baccalaureate in Business and Economy Sciences at the University of Pays de Wales in 1976. At the time of his appeal, he was employed as director of international trade and investment of the British Ministry of Commerce and Industry and as a member of the board of directors of a British government agency providing assistance to private communities. He was previously Director of Operations and Strategic Relations for British Telecom and director of the British Government Information Company, as well as the Chairman of the London Board of Directors Small Business Administration.
He was also a member of the Board of Directors of a Grants University Student Charity, London First, the group of large -band stakeholders, a National Health Service Trust and the London Council of the Confederation of British Industry. During his stay in the Commerce and Industry Department, he chaired a political action team in the name of the Prime Minister’s social exclusion unit.
Since he joined the church in 1968, Brother Baxter served in numerous calls, notably a full-time missionary to the Scottish mission of Edinburgh, Bishop, adviser in a presidency of Pile, president of Pieu, advisor in a presidency of mission and seventy of the region.
David Steward Baxter was born in Stirling, Scotland on February 7, 1955. He married Dianne Marie Lewars in February 1979; She died in March 2022. The hiccups are the parents of four children.
The elder Bennett was supported as a general authority seventy-years on April 2, 2011. He served in the presidency of the eastern region of Europe in Moscow, Russia, from 2011 to 2015 and president of the Russia Mission Samara from 2007 to 2010. He is currently president of the Central Region of North America.
The elder Bennett obtained a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Alberta and a master’s degree in science in orthodontics from Loma Linda University in California. During his professional career, Brother Bennett was involved in orthodontic treatment, research, teaching and training.
The elder Bennett served in a certain number of church calls, including full -time missionary in the missions of France Paris and France Toulouse and the president of the branch at the Provo Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.
Randall K. Bennett was born in Magrath, Alberta, Canada, June 17, 1955. He married Shelley Dianne Watchman in April 1977. They are the parents of four children.
The elder Hamilton was supported as a general authority seventy on April 6, 2013. He served for five years in the presidency of the southeast region of Africa-including time as president of the region-and a year in the presidency of the northeast region of North America. He is now Executive Director of the Family History Department.
Frher Hamilton obtained a Baccalaureate in Marketing from Brigham Young University in 1979 and, in 1982, he obtained a master’s degree in finance from Washington University. Before his call, he was co-founder and partner of a venture capital company.
The elder Hamilton has served in numerous calls to the church, notably a full-time missionary in the Swiss Mission of Geneva, Bishop, President of Pile and President of the Belgium / Netherlands Mission from 2003 to 2006.
Kevin Scott Hamilton was born in Wenatchee, Washington. He married Claudia Keysor in July 1978. They were the parents of six children.
The former Pino was supported as a general authority seventy on April 5, 2008. At the time of his appeal, he was a member of the fourth quorum of the seventy in the northern region of South America.
He was advisable in the northern region of South America, the Northwest Region in South America and the presidencies of the Mexico region; President of the North West and Mexico regions in South America and deputy director general in the Temple department. He is currently an advisor in the presidency of the North West Region in South America.
Brother Pino studied trade in Colegio Carabobo. He received an administration certificate in Caracas, Venezuela. He worked for the Church of Jesus Christ the saints of the last days in a variety of capacities since 1980. At the time of his call for full-time religious service, he worked as regional director for temporal affairs.
Since he joined the church in 1972, Brother Pino has served in numerous church calls, including full-time missionary in the missions of Venezuela Caracas and Venezuela Maracaibo, executive secretary of stakes, Bishop, mission mission (1999-2002) and the region of the region.
Rafael Eduardo Pino Gimenez was born in Valencia, Venezuela, October 27, 1955. He married Patricia Monica Villa Dassler in March 1981. They are the parents of three children.
The elder Zeballos was supported as general authority seventy-twix-twix-vingt-dix April 2008. At the time of his call, he was president of the mission of Chile Concepción Sud (2006-2008).
He is currently president of the Caribbean region. He was also president of the northwest region of South America and a member of the presidents of Central America, South America and Chile. He was previously deputy executive director in the missionary department and member of the restoration of blessings and cancellation of the seal committee at the church headquarters.
The elder Zeballos obtained a diploma in civil engineering at the University of Santa Maria in Chile in 1979. In 1991, he obtained his master’s degree in Business Administration at Brigham Young University. He worked as director of physical installations in the Chile region until 1989. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he worked as director of business affairs for Minera Escondida – BHP Billiton until he was called Mission President in 2005.
The elder Zeballos has served in numerous calls to the church, notably a full-time missionary in the mission of the Chile Concepción, Bishop, president of Pile, regional representative, the seventy region and the president of the mission.
Jorge Fernando Zeballos Ortiz was born in Ovalle, Chile on July 19, 1955. He married Carmen Gloria Valenzuela in June 1982. They are the parents of five.
