The suspect was taken into police custody.
Five people were killed and two others injured in a seemingly random attack in Kongsberg, Norway on Wednesday evening as a man roamed the city shooting people with a bow and arrows.
Authorities said the man was taken into custody in the city center and is currently being held in the nearby town of Drammen.
The police are not looking for any other suspects.
“Based on the information currently available to us, the apprehended man acted alone. declaration. “The suspect has yet to be interviewed by police, so it is too early to say anything about the motives behind his actions.”
Kongsberg is located about an hour southwest of Oslo.
Police said the man was seen walking around town shooting at around 6:30 p.m. local time and was taken into custody about 20 minutes later. Photos of the city showed arrows stuck in the walls of buildings.
“There has been and still is significant police activity in the area,” Aas said. “The reason is that the suspect has moved over a large area, and we are now working on obtaining evidence and getting as much information as possible about the incident.”
