Lynch again repeated that he is “looking forward to having (Purdy) as a quarterrier for a long time”. He also said that there had been “substantial talks that have (negotiations) in a good direction”.
Phase I of the off -season program, during which activities are limited to meetings and packaging work, officially started on Tuesday. Lynch said that almost all 49ers players, including the secondary Fred Warner, the ball carrier Christian McCaffrey (who said he was a full participant after having fought by several injuries in 2024), and the left tackle Trent Williams – even if this phase of the offseason is not compulsory.
“We are delighted with this,” said Lynch. “We need this conviviality. We need this shared sacrifice. ”
Warner is interested in signing an extension with the 49ers, but he has two years on his existing contract. On Tuesday, Warner said he was satisfied with his current remuneration – the 49ers will pay the second dollars this season – and plans to be with the team in the intersane program.
