Santa Clara – Deebo Samuel still wants to go out.
Samuel, a captain of the team of 49ers whose production reduced his 2021 All-Pro season, is looking for a profession after the most tumultuous and disappointing season of his six-year term.
Being exchanged, by your request, seems to be a more realistic exit plan than three years ago, when a trade request from March was only a step towards a contract extension in the training camp (three years, $ 72 million). The biggest mystery is now to know how much – or how little – the 49ers can recover in exchange for Samuel, which did not generate enough market in 2022 or again last March to obtain a business.
The 49ers granted Samuel and his agent permission to request a business once the latter request arrived a month ago, when Samuel, 29, sat with coach Kyle Shanahan after season 6 -11 of the 49ers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“It was a difficult conversation to have with Kyle because of the relationship we have,” Samuel told ESPN. “But I have to do what is best. I am more than grateful for the Niners who have given me the opportunity of a life, but now I think it is better to find another team. “”
The 49ers did not immediately make a declaration or confirmation concerning the potential split of Samuel. The NFL network has also indicated that the 49ers should “explore” the movement of Samuel.
Managing Director John Lynch said last month that the 49ers expected Samuel to come back because “he is under contract”, with a charge of $ 15.9 million on their salary ceiling and with a basic salary $ 1.17 million in 2025.
The trade or release of Samuel before June 1 would cost $ 31.5 million to 49ers compared to their salary ceiling of 2025, or half of this figure if they designate a move after this date.
“(Samuel is) a good player and made a ton for this organization,” said Lynch on January 8, “and we are not letting the right players come out of here.”
Samuel was dissatisfied throughout last season, complaining about the X social media platform with a lack of opportunities perceived after a victory on December 8 against the Bears in Chicago, their only victory during their last two months of the season. During their previous victory, on November 10 at Tampa Bay, Samuel came out of the 49ers sideline to confront the botter Jake Moody after his third attempted field of failed field, and Samuel made the long neck of the Vivaneau Taylor slide Pepper.
Samuel, a captain for the second consecutive year, missed two games last season, not counting the defeat of October 20 against Kansas City, who left early and required a hospitalization of two nights for pneumonia type symptoms.
Samuel only scored four affected last season, three receivers and a rush. He grabbed 51 targets out of 81 (and sadly abandoned a potential touchdown during a defeat of December 12 against RAMs) for 670 yards. While the moonlight as a rusher in his role as “large”, Samuel has an average of a career of 3.2 yards per race (42 rushs, 136 yards); He also got a career kick of 17 kicks for 533 yards.
Samuel, through his ups and downs, is one of the most productive game players in the 49ers in the past 25 years. Its 4,792 reception yards rank 11th in the history of the 49ers, and its 334 receptions are 13. It ranks 16th with 42 affected – 22 receivers, 20 rush.
During the 2023 season, he totaled 1,117 melee yards and 12 affected while the 49ers reached the Super Bowl.
His emergence in 2021 as a “broad back” allowed him to his Honers All All-Pro and Pro Bowl, while he has accumulated his only reception season of 1000 yards (77 catches, 1405 yards, six affected) and run for 365 yards and eight scores.
Earlier this week in New Orleans, Samuel introduced himself to media interviews with a replica of Jersey of the Philadelphia Eagles in the blink of an Aj Brown, his nearby friend who will try to dethrone the chefs in the Super Bowl On Sunday, something that Samuel and the 49ers failed to do the chef a year ago and in the 2019 season.
While the commercial speech revolved around Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk before last year’s draft, the 49ers did not receive an offer solid enough to separate either. Aiyuk finally signed an extension just before the season, to undergo a knee injury at the end of the season against the chiefs. Upon entering the next season, the 49ers will have Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall as their best reception options if they separate from Samuel – or even if it comes back, perhaps.
