New York (AP) – About 429,000 portable electricity banks are under reminder because they can overheat and potentially take fire while loading phones, pose a risk of burning for consumers.
According to a notice Thursday published by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Brooklyn, Casely, based in New York, recalls some of its “electric pods” after receiving 51 reports from the lithium -ion battery from the overheating, developing or taking fire during use – resulting in six minor injuries to date.
Casely feed pods now reported, which have a 5000mah battery capacity, can be identified by their model number: E33A. Wireless telephone chargers were made in China, the notes of Thursday and sold on Amazon, Getcasly.com and other websites between March 2022 and September 2024.
Consumers in possession of these chargers, who have come in a variety of colors and printing, are invited to stop using them immediately – and to contact Casely for a free replacement.
Eligible people will receive a new “Pod Power Power” UL, a FAQ on the notes of the Casely website. The company also claims that all other batteries not included in this recall remain safe to use.
“Casely is attached to the safety of its customers and, by abundance of caution, has taken proactive measures to eliminate potentially defective products from traffic,” Casely wrote in his reminder ad. “If your pod pod qualifies, we will replace it with a brand new unit at no cost for you.”
To receive a free replacement, consumers will have to fill out an online form – and submit photos of the charger recalled that they have, with the word “recalled” and the date written to him in a permanent marker. But the CPSC and Casely also point out that lithium -ion battery devices should not be thrown into generals or general recycling bins – asking consumers to search for local advice for elimination.
