A 38-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the neck while a 52-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg and a 31-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back near Avenue A and 14th Street East in Manhattan around 5:45 p.m., police said.

The three victims were first transported to Bellevue Hospital where the 38-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

The woman is in critical condition and the youngest is in stable condition.

A man in his thirties was arrested on site, police said. No charges have been filed against him so far.

A “cutting instrument” was also recovered, according to the NYPD.

Pools of blood spilled onto the sidewalk while trash, clothing and other items were scattered following the triple stabbing.

Following the deadly attack, Council Member Keith Powers called for a dedicated police presence in the area to combat frequent violence and other crimes – which he called “out of control” and ” madness.”

“The situation on 14th Street is out of control…It is unacceptable that conditions on the street remain unchanged,” he wrote in a statement.

“We need every elected official and agency working to address these issues: a dedicated NYPD presence to combat illicit activity, continued crackdown on illegal vendors, continued focus (sic) on litter cleanup and sanitation, and more,” Powers added.

More information about the motivations for the stabbing was not immediately revealed by cops. It is also unclear whether there was a connection between the victims.
