3 are arrested in the flight of gold helmet from the Dutch museum

Three people were arrested as part of a cheeky robbery in a museum in the Netherlands during the weekend during which thieves stole ancient artefacts, including a precious golden helmet loaned in Romania, announced on Wednesday The authorities.

The three people were arrested in Heerhugowaard, a city about 30 miles north of Amsterdam and more than 100 miles west of the Drent Museum, where the flight took place. The police identified two of them like Douglas Chesley Wendersteyt and Bernhard Zeeman, both from Heerhugowaard. Police identified the third person who was arrested as a woman, also in the same city, but did not release his name.

Police said they had searched houses in Heerhugowaard, but the stolen parts had not been found. Authorities said they were also looking for a fourth person in the flight. They published three images of surveillance of a man wearing glasses and a dark shirt and a cap which, according to them, were taken in a hardware store in an assembly.

“This is an absolute priority of the police and the prosecutor,” the police said in a statement.

Early Saturday morning, thieves exploded an access door to enter the Drent museum. Granulous images of a surveillance camera showed three hooded characters pulling on the door before an explosion and a wave of sparks. The authorities said it was part of an effort developed to enter the Art and History Museum and steal some of its treasures.
