The incident brought an early finish to everyone’s race, Piastri remaining at the top thanks to its 1m 16.545s effort to go just 0.032 s of Norris lighting in second position. Sainz and Russell were almost third and fourth respectively, the first four separated less than six hundredths of a second.

Hamilton took fifth place after an apparently delicate session for Ferrari, while Pierre Gasly, Verstappen, Albon, Bortoleto and the other Kick Sauber by Nico Hulkenberg, Bortoleto and the other.
Lance Stroll claimed P11 for Aston Martin, ahead of Leclerc, Antonelli, Alonso and Liam Lawson of the Bulls. Tsunoda, on the other hand, was transferred to P16, with ColariTo in P17 while the Haas pair of Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon was respectively 18th and 20th, the duo separated by Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls.
The drivers and teams will now regroup in the paddock to examine their data and prepare for the second free training session on Friday, which should start at 1700 local hours.
