With the release of the NFL calendar on Wednesday evening, we decided to prepare for this by breaking down the calendar strength of each team for the 2025 season, and uh, giant fans, you may want to stop reading now.
The Giants’ coach, Brian Daboll, is on the New York hot seat and if he wants to save his work, it will not be easy, and it is because the giants will face the most difficult calendar force of the NFL in 2025.
After obtaining 3-14 last season, the giants could find it difficult to exceed this record this year thanks to a brutal calendar force: their brand of .574 is the highest in the NFL.
The Giants calendar is particularly brutal with six of their eight games against teams that made the playoffs last season (Eagles, Commanders, Packers, Vikings, Chefs and Chargers). Without forgetting, they also have home matches against the 49ers and the cowboys, which both made the playoffs only two years ago.
The second most difficult calendar actually belongs to two teams: the Strait lions and the Chicago Bears are equal to .571. On these two, the Lions undoubtedly have the most brutal calendar because they will play 12 games against teams that finished with a record of victories in 2024, which is most in the NFL. They also have 11 games against teams that made the playoffs last year, which is tied with the Eagles for the most.
Speaking of Eagles, they have a brutal road calendar. Philadelphia will play six games on the road against teams outside the NFC East and these six games will be against teams that made the playoffs last year. The brutal slate includes road matches against chefs, invoices, packers, Vikings, chargers and Buccaneers.
The Eagles have the most difficult fourth force of calendar overall at 0.561.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, the 49ers of San Francisco have the simplest strength of the calendar at .415, which makes it one of the two teams – with the New Orleans – which has a SOS below 0.425. The 49ers came from a Super Bowl season in 2024, but they were ravaged by injuries last season, which led to a 6-11 file. The advantage of this is that the 49ers will be able to play the calendar of the last place, which could make them dangerous this year if they can remain healthy. The 49ers will only play four games against teams that made the playoffs last season (Texans, Buccaneers, Rams X 2), which is tied with the saints at least the NFL.
In the past six of the past six years, at least one team playing one of the two easiest times has made the playoffs, which should end up being good news for the saints or the 49ers.

The addition of the 17th game added spices to the strength of the calendar measurement, and it is because it means that the right teams are now playing more difficult times. From 2002 to 2020, the calendar was intrinsically the same for everyone, whether they played a “first place” calendar or a “last place” calendar. Each team played four games against a team that ended first place, four games against teams that finished in second, four games against teams that finished in third and four games against teams that finished in the last place.
With the addition of the 17th game, a first place team will now play five first place teams, which means that you will rarely see a winner of the division with an easy calendar.
On the eight teams playing a “first place” calendar in 2025, the Buffalo Bills have the easiest, which is notable, because the first place teams have done well in this situation since the NFL went to a calendar of 17 games in 2021. During the four years, since then, the team with the simplest “first place” calendar ended with a winning record in each season. The Bills had the “easiest” first place calendar in 2021 and they finished with a record of 11-6. The cowboys had the “easiest” first place calendar in 2022 and they were able to transform this into a 12-5 file. The Jacksonville jaguars had the first place “simplest” calendar in 2023 and they finished 9-8. Last season, the first place “the easiest” calendar went to Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who did this to a 9-8 file and an NFC South title.
If you are marking at home, it’s an average of 10.25 wins per season for the team with the “simplest” calendar in first place.
Regarding the teams that play a “last place” calendar this year, the 49ers have marked the biggest victory because they have the simplest calendar of the last place teams (and the easiest calendar in the NFL). On the other hand, you have a team like the Giants, who also play a last -place calendar, but they have the most difficult calendar in the NFL (the biggest difference between the Giants and the 49ers is that New York must play 10 teams that made the playoffs in 2024 while the 49ers only play four).
If you are looking for a surprise competitor of the playoffs, a team to watch in 2025 could be the New England Patriots, who have the simplest strength of the AFC calendar. The team with the simplest calendar of the AFC finished with a record of victories in seven consecutive seasons and if the patriots want to make it eight consecutive, they will have to improve from 4-13 to at least 9-8 years in the first year of Mike Vrabel as a chief coach of New England Sequence in progress).
Over the past two years, the AFC team with the simplest force of the calendar has improved its record of at least six games. After spending 3-13-1 in 2022, the Texans had the simplest strength of the calendar of any AFC team in 2023 and they ended up being a team of surprise eliminatory series at 10-7 in the first season Demeco Ryans as Houston chief coach. Last year, it was the charge. After finishing 5-12 in 2023, they had the simplest calendar strength of the AFC in 2024 and took advantage of it by going 11-6 and making the playoffs in the first season of Jim Harbaugh at work. Truebel will now seek to do what Ryans and Harbaugh have done while enjoying the easier calendar force.
The only thing about the calendar strength is that there is no perfect way to measure the difficulty of the calendar before the start of the season. Thanks to injuries and trades, the lists change all the time and they will continue to change throughout the season. That being said, the calendar strength gives you a good idea of what your favorite team will face in the coming season.
Here is the ranking of the Force of the schedule in 2025 for each team (record combined in 2024 of the 17 opponents, percentage of combined victories).

If you are curious to know the planning formula, each team plays 17 games as follows:
- At home against his three division opponents (six games).
- The four teams of another division in his conference on a three -year -old cycle (four games).
- The four teams in a division of the other conference on a four -year -old cycle (four games).
- Two intra-conference matches based on the ranking of the previous year (two games). These games correspond to a first place team against first place teams in the two divisions of the same conference that the team must not play this season. Second place, third place and fourth place in a conference are equal in the same way each year.
- An inter -real game based on the ranking of the previous year on a four -year -old cycle (a match). These matches correspond to a first place team in a division against a first place team in an opposite conference division that the team should not play this season. Second place, third place and fourth place in each division are equal in the same way each year. The home conference for this match can be worse every season.
Finally, here A link to a list of each home and outside opponent that each team will play in 2025. The time and dates of each match will be released on Wednesday May 14.
