Throughout the training week, the offensive line players in small schools were important on how they have managed the jump in competition, and rightly so.
Gray Zabel of the state of Northern Dakota has even left with the event prize for the general training player of the week.
The game turned out to be a little different, however.
To start, Carson Vinson of Alabama A & M really had trouble throughout the competition on Saturday. Yes, he played as much or more pictures as anyone who participates while finding himself on an island often against the talented pass-rusher after the talented pass-rusher. The Fire trial burned the blocker at small school.
Vinson often allowed a mild edge, which gave the ruptures of sport. He sold the band bag created by Landon Jackson. Another has almost occurred if it is not for a work penalty on the face called defense.
NFL scouts want to see a non-FBS school player on occasion. Vinson flashed throughout the week. But his stockings were far too worrying when protecting the blinds of the quarters during the match.
Clay Webb of Jacksonville is another which initially impressed, mainly due to the playing force. He then made several errors, including a false departure and allowing some pressures. Webb is a former Georgia product, and he will benefit from being in a situation where he has time to create a relationship with an offensive tackle and a regular center next to him. For a day, it was slightly exposed in this particular context.
As for Zabel, he looks great throughout the week. He did well enough to gain all the recognition he received. His hands are full during the match, especially against Sai’vion Jones de Lsu. Zabel was beaten on his inner leg a few times. After moving to the center, he had trouble passing his head when Virginia Tech’s Peebles won a tackle for loss.
Each of these assignments was difficult. After such a good week, hope existed that a potential choice of first round draft would provide an afternoon of locking. Zabel failed to do so.
