Friday, two American carnival carnival passengers drowned in separate incidents in the Bahamas, according to officials.
The victims were identified as a 74 -year -old woman and a 79 -year -old man.
In a statement, Carnival said that a victim had drowned in a lagoon and that the other was drowned at the beach, both at Celebration Key, a private destination for the guests of the carnival on the south side of Grand Bahama. It includes a water park, a beach club, lagoons and restaurants.
“A guest was sailing with his family on Tuesday fat and a guest sailing with the family on Carnival Elation,” said Cruise Line in the press release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the guests and their families and our care team provides assistance.”
Police were informed of the first drowning just before noon, according to the Royals of the Bahamas police. The police found that the 79 -year -old man did not respond on a commercial ship.
“According to the initial report, the male became insensitive to diving on a beach,” police said in a press release shared with NBC News. “A rescuer helped him from the water, and the RCR has been administered, but in vain.”
The man was declared dead by a doctor, police said.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., the police found a 74 -year -old woman who did not respond on another commercial ship, police said.
The woman became insensitive by swimming in a swimming pool, according to a first report, said the police. A rescuer who helped her get out of the water administered the RCR “in vain” and was declared dead.
“An autopsy will be carried out on the two victims to help determine the exact cause of the death,” the police said. “The investigation continues in both questions.”
The carnival and the police did not identify any of the victims.
