2 Reportedly Found Dead In Plane Landing Gear

Two people were reportedly found dead in the landing gear compartment of a recently parked JetBlue plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.

According to Fox 35 Orlando, the discovery of the two people was made on the evening of Monday, January 6. According to the outlet, a JetBlue spokesperson revealed that the individuals were found “during a routine post-flight maintenance inspection of the aircraft.” »

“This is a heartbreaking situation and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this happened,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Additionally, it was stated that authorities are currently investigating to determine the identity of the individuals. And how they got into the landing gear hold of the plane. According to CNN, the individuals were both identified as men.

The flight reportedly arrived at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport. “A door technician in the landing gear area noticed two men who appear to be from Signal 7 and advised that they were not moving in the landing gear area,” a message on the radio of the landing gear reportedly said. Broward County Sheriff’s Office around 11:26 p.m., according to the outlet.

Finally, the media reports that the men’s bodies were “severely decomposed”. Despite the shocking discovery, the outlet also noted that “the landing gear compartment is often used by stowaways.” According to a 2011 FAA report, eighty percent of stowaways who “attempt to fly into the wheel well or other external compartment of an aircraft die.”
