2 people shot at high school graduation ceremony in California

Two adults – a man and a woman – were shot and killed at a high school graduation in California, police say.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. at Skyline High School in Oakland, California, when two people, currently identified as an unnamed man and woman, were shot on the north side of the campus while held the graduation ceremony, according to a statement from the Oakland Police Department.

Both gunshot victims were transported to local hospitals where they are currently in stable condition.

Authorities are investigating reports that an argument preceded the shooting, but have so far not revealed the motive or purpose of the possible argument.

Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and that there are multiple suspects, but have not yet released the identities of those believed to be involved.

Skyline High School was placed on lockdown immediately following the incident, but this measure was lifted shortly after the incident.

The investigation into the shooting remains open and anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department.
