2 Found dead inside the Westlake tent of the months after the deadly campfire

A man and a woman were found dead inside a Westlake tent on Monday, months after the death of another person in a VR fire at the same camp, the authorities announced.

The Los Angeles Police Service responded to Huntley Drive’s Bloc 1200 – near motorway 110 and downtown Los Angeles – around 7:20 p.m. and found two bodies, according to a spokesperson for the department. The Bureau of the County Legalist of the ComtĂ© de la tries to determine how they died. Police are not investigating death as homicides, said the spokesperson.

The woman was identified as Lucrecia Macias Barajas, 46, according to a spokesperson for the medical examiner.

The man was in their thirties and his identity was retained until the authorities could reach his family, said the spokesperson.

Ktla News reported that Barajas’ family members had found her body after they couldn’t reach her for several days and torn her tent, which was locked from the inside.

ABC7 News captured the video of animal services picking up barajas dogs in the camp on Monday evening. A spokesperson for animal services said that the department had responded to a LAPD request to recover two camp dogs – a mixture of pit -bull and a mixture of shepherd – and took them to the North Central animal refuge.

A nearby man told Ktla that his dogs had been attacked by dogs living in the camp, which, according to him, caused persistent problems in the neighborhood.

“This place was a danger area,” the man told the point of sale. “People do not feel safe, and nothing is done to clean it for good.”

On January 7, a person was found dead inside a vehicle burned at the camp. A second person, a 38-year-old man, was taken to the incident hospital, said spokesperson for the Los Angeles fire service Margaret Stewart.

The mortality rate among people experiencing roaming in the county of the increased by 55% between 2019 and 2021, an increase in public health officials attributed to an increase in fentanyl overdoses.

In 2023, 2,508 people suffering from homeless people died in Los Angeles – which is equivalent to 6.9 deaths per day. Drug and alcohol overdoses were the main cause of death, representing 45% of all deaths.

Camp fires also contribute to deaths among people living in the street or in vehicles.

From 2018 to 2020, the number of fire-related fires has almost tripled, representing around 38% of all the fires to which the ministry responded in this time, according to an analysis of the Times.
