2 dead in shooting in Los Angeles park

Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting at Peck Park in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, authorities said Sunday. One person was in critical condition on Sunday evening.

Four of the victims are male and three are female, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. Their ages ranged from 23 to 53, Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Capt. Kelly Muniz told CBS News.

Gunshots were heard just before 4 p.m. local time Sunday near what police called an “unauthorized” car show being held in the park, CBS Los Angeles reports. Police said later Sunday night they believe the shooting erupted near the park’s baseball diamonds and was the result of an argument between two groups, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Police said they believe there may have been multiple shooters, although an exact number was not given. There are no suspects in custody at this stage, police said Sunday evening.

Several weapons were recovered from the scene, police said.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
