A popular protective style, Senegalese twists are obtained by tightly rolling two strands of hair with each other and sealing the ends with heat. Some prefer that they are always popular box braids such as a faster, lighter and easier style option.
Not to be confused with their cousin, the twists and turns of the passion, the Senegalese twists tend to be thicker and more full, while the twists and turns of the passion are leaning on the colonant and inflatable side. The passion twists are installed using curly extensions, while those of the Senegalese (if extensions are used) are generally straight.
Like most protective styles, inappropriate care can damage the hair – the installation of too tight twists or leaving it too long can cause tension and rupture. But a well -maintained and hydrated style should not cause any problems for your hair. Keep in mind that twists and turns do not last as long as box braids – generally six to 10 weeks, depending on the speed at which your hair is developing, hair health and the way it is well taken care of.
