13-year-old praised for protecting his teacher during filming

Bobby Holloman, 13, is being praised for protecting a teacher when shots rang out during a game in North Carolina between St. Pauls Middle School and Lumberton Jr. High.

Gunshots rang out and Holloman, a 7th grade student on the St. Pauls team, pulled teacher Donald Weller close to the ground to protect him, FOX News reported.

Players were on their knees for a trophy presentation ceremony when gunshots rang out and students jumped up and started running for cover, WRAL noted.

Various cellphone videos of the incident captured the sound of Holloman shouting, “Get down, Mr. Weller!” He then pulled him down to keep him from being shot.

Afterwards, Holloman said, “I wanted to make sure everyone was okay before we went down, because it’s true. In my book, it’s true.

A 41-year-old woman was shot in the parking lot, but no one on the ground was injured.
