On Wednesday, a dozen states, most of them led by the Democrats, continued President Trump on his prices, arguing that he did not have the power to arbitrarily impose the prices as he did here. “”
Containing that only the congress has the power to legislate on the prices, the States ask the Trump administration to prevent respect for what they said to be illegal prices.
“These publishers reflect a national commercial policy which now depends on the whims of the president rather than the solid exercise of his legal authority,” said the trial, deposited by the general prosecutor of the States of the American Court of International Trade.
States, including New York, Illinois and Oregon, are the last parties to bring Trump administration to prices. Their case comes after California put its own legal action last week, in which Governor Gavin Newsom and the prosecutor general accused the administration of having increased a trade war which caused “immediate and irreparable damage” to the economy of this state.
Oregon officials and companies, the principal applicant of the prosecution filed on Wednesday, also expressed concerns about the vulnerability of the state dependent on the state, as well as its sportswear industry, following prices.
“When a president pushes an illegal policy that increases prices at the grocery store and epises public service bills, we do not have the luxury of standing,” said Dan Rayfield, attorney general of Oregon, in a statement. “These prices have struck all the corners of our lives – from the cash line to the doctor’s office – and we are responsible for postponing.”
Asked about the last trial, Kush Desai, spokesperson for the White House, called him “witch hunt” by the Democrats against Mr. Trump.
“The Trump administration remains determined to use its full legal authority to face the distinct national emergencies that our country is currently confronted,” he said, “both the scourge of illegal migration and fentanyl crosses our border and the explosion of the annual deficit of American goods.”
The other states of costume are Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico and Vermont. All states have Democratic general prosecutors, although Nevada and Vermont have republican governors.
Trump’s prices shocked and upset the world trade industry. It set a 145% tariff on goods from China, 25% in Canada and 10% on almost all imports of most other countries.
The moves have also aroused legal challenges from other entities, including two members of the Blackfeet nation, who filed a federal complaint in Montana on Canada’s prices, claiming to have violated the rights of tribal treaties. Legal groups such as the Liberty Justice Center and the New Civil Liberties Alliance also continued.
“I am happy that Oregon and other States join us in this fight,” said Ilya Somin, professor of law at George Mason University, who works on the lawsuit of Liberty Justice Center.
