Eleven detainees escaped from Orleans Parish Justice Center in New Orleans, the authorities announced on Friday.
Officials discovered that the missing detainees during a routine head account around 8:30 am Friday, the Susan Hutson sheriff Said at a press conference in the afternoon, calling it a “very serious and unacceptable situation”.

Prison files show that at least four of the prisoners escaped are accused of murder or attempted murder. The accusations for others include serious assaults with a firearm, an armed robbery with a firearm, false armed imprisonment, battery and drug offenses.
At least one of the escapees was arrested, the authorities said.
The state police shared a photo of inmate Kendall Myles at the back of a police car. They said he had been captured in the French district after a brief pursuit of the feet.
“Thank you to the Nola troop for their diligence and their speed by apprehending the first escape,” said Governor Jeff Landry in an article on X. “To the other 10: you are the next one!”
Authorities “immediately” launched a coordinated response “to search for prisoners, said sheriff.
“We are actively working with local, state and federal agencies to apply the law in a large -scale research operation,” said Hutson.
Hutson told the public not to get involved with prisoners or to approach prisoners.
“We urge the public to stay alert,” she said.
The sheriff’s office contacted the local and state police and the Louisiana correctional services department.
