Gentle warmth and a sense of freedom enter the summer narrative, with holiday scents promoting pleasure. “As temperatures rise, people often turn to scents that evoke a feeling of freshness and vitality,” says Chriselle Lim, owner and creative director of Phlur, who favors citrus notes or musk flowers fair-skinned for summer outfits.
“I think the best summer scents are fresh, bright and sexy and linger on hot summer nights.” The season also offers the perfect vehicle for testing out some of the year’s most exciting fragrance trends (think: tangy citrus, milky musk, and sunny florals), blended to create free-spirited scents that will have you breathing in summer vibes as you walk past. With the sense of summer, more literal highlights from this time of year round out the scent menu. “Aquatic notes are very popular,” says Brianna Arps, founder and CEO of Modeaux. “Those who are inspired by the ocean and those who imitate other elements of nature (e.g. coconut water).”
