Jenny Hval: Iris Silver Mist (4ad)
Iris Silver MistThe last album of the singer-songwriter still familiar and always surprised, Jenny Hval, emerged from a series of concerts in which she placed rice cuisers around the stage to fill the place of the laborious aroma of comfort at home. The album, itself named after a perfume, draws from its brand competence to transform the misty synths and swept by the wind into lush decorations so that the celestial melodies are directly in. As always, she compensates for her baroque generosity with words of casual observation and strangely funny that turn lines like “you had bled your jeans”, in springboards for comic monologues and philosophical threads.
