This is a monumental first for The Sims series, as no game before the fourth officially supported open or polyamorous relationships. Longtime fans may remember having to struggle with Sims and their negative emotions when they felt like they were being cheated on. Gone are the days of needing to Sims 4 Mods just to counter unwanted jealousy, according to EA.
“The new romantic limits system is free for all players. It will allow you to personalize your Sim’s experience with limits and jealousy,” the developer writes in a press release. job announcing the Lovestruck expansion. “You can now set how your Sims approach romantic relationships in terms of physical and emotional romantic exclusivity. I’m sick of giving all my poly sims the gamer trait as a workaround!” Another player comments that it’s “one less mod I have to use,” while many others express how they are “so excited to read this.” As someone with thousands of hours of play myself, I’m looking forward to ditching some mods in favor of official polyamory support—more importantly, I’m happy to hear that console users without access to mods can play more freely.
