10 true crime documentaries to watch this spring

There is good news and bad news. The good news is that there are hundreds of true-crime documentaries to enjoy, but that’s also the bad news.

Over the years, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and other streamers have recruited documentarians and filmmakers to tell important stories that captivate audiences. Admittedly, some documentaries are simply fascinating for featuring wacky characters (yes, we’re talking about tiger king), but others have contributed to ongoing investigations.

For example, if it weren’t for the HBO documentary The Jinxwe don’t know if Robert Durst would have been convicted of the murder of Susan Berman. While filming the miniseries, Durst, who died in January, mumbled in a hot mic moment, “You’re taken! What did I do? I killed them all, of course.”

Although the footage was not used in the prosecution case against Durst, it sparked renewed interest in Berman’s murder, of which Durst was convicted in September.
