10 things learned from Matt Lafleur in the annual meeting of the NFL

Palm Beach, Florida – Packers head coach Matt Lafleur spoke to the media on Tuesday morning during the annual NFL meeting in Breakers Palm Beach.

Here are 10 things we learned:

1. Packers plan to capitalize on the versatility of Nate Hobbs.

The signing of the former Las Vegas corner half at the beginning of the month was a huge investment not only in the future of Green Bay’s defense, but also the flexibility of his secondary.

Although Hobbs played mainly in the slit during his four years with the raiders, the packers see a 6 -foot playmaker and 195 pounds capable of managing the border.

He reflects Green Bay’s approach with the former teammate of Raider by Hobbs, Keisean Nixon, who went from nickel to the outside corner during the second half of last season due to injuries.

“I know that many people consider him a nickel. Well, we think he can play outside and play on the perimeter,” said Lafleur de Hobbs. “I love the mentality of the guy. I love the way he plays the game. He plays in the right way – he is hard, he is competitive and he brings an advantage.”

2. Green Bay hopes to find a happy medium with Tucker Kraft.

Lafleur has recognized the best attribute of the third year – his assault – is also what makes him sensitive to injuries.

4. Packers do not expect persistent problems with Jordan Love’s knee.

Lafleur said the quarter of the Packers franchise did not need procedures after the knee season he first injured when the Green Bay regular season was opened in Brazil.

Love missed two games before the return of week 4 against Minnesota. After the season, Love told Kay Adams in a February interview that he felt the MCL Sprain then contributed to the injury to the groin which he suffered in Jacksonville at the end of October.

“It’s the NFL and the guys will have to face the Knicks and things of this nature and get the most out of it throughout the season,” said Lafleur. “He must just try to empty him and I admire his tenacity. I think he has shown it, be able to fight and be available for the most part for most matches for his team.”

5. Packers are looking forward to a second season with Malik Willis as QB2.

Acquired in a business with Tennessee at the end of the training camp, Willis led packers in the Nissan stadium less than a month later and beat his former team in the absence of Love.

The old third round choice was effective in two starts in place and an appearance in relief against the Jaguars, winning the three competitions, and he almost succeeded in a return victory of the week 18 against Chicago. 8. Luke Getsy brings new ideas to the offensive mixture.

The long -standing deputy coach of the packers returned to the team during the offseason after having served the last three years as an offensive coordinator in Chicago and Las Vegas.

According to Lafleur, Getsy already makes his presence feel in his current post as a senior attacking assistant.

“He’s a guy for whom I have a lot of respect. Not only as a football coach, but as a man,” said Lafleur. “He is extremely organized, really intelligent, I think he sees the game in the right way. He has brought a lot of cool ideas while we were crossing all our cups as staff. He will bring us a lot of value.”

9. Lafleur is looking forward to seeing more of Marshawn Lloyd.

The choice of the third round of the packers in 2024 played in a single match last season due to a recurring injury to the hamstrings and an appendectomy at the end of the season when it was approaching a return.

Green Bay finished fifth by rushing last year thanks to the Josh Jacobs Pro Bowl season and the contributions of second -year runners Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks.

10. Demarcus Covington’s experience as a defensive coordinator called on Lafleur.

Covington, hired to replace Jason Rebrovich as the new packers’ defensive line coach, was the defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots last year.

“I know he is held in high esteem around the league, and I really like the behavior he comes with it,” said Lafleur. “He is a technician, knows Ball, knows a lot of ball. I think he knows well. I think that having this coordinator’s background is also great.”
