In January, Opendoor, a digital platform for residential real estate, published a new report ranking the most popular postal codes in America.
To identify the main postal codes, the company has analyzed data from the local multiple lists (MLS) services where Opendoor, OpenOor works. They then classified them according to the total number of houses which were contracted within 90 days of their registration for sale in 2024.
“The most popular areas are known to be rapidly growing cities with many new developments,” Nick Boniakowski, head of Opendoor agent partnerships, in CNBC told CNBC.
“There is a general theme here to be close to big cities without being in the city center,” he said. “Buyers (want) to be close enough to the action while obtaining this city or suburban charm.”
Texas has the most cities on the TOP 10 list of Opendoor – with six in the Top 10. Boniakowski says that it is a sign that employment growth was also a major factor for buyers who examine these codes special postal.
Katy, Texas is the most popular postal code in America for house buyers
Postal code 77493 or Katy, Texas, has been classified as the most popular postal code for house buyers. Katy is a western suburb of Houston.
Boniakowski says that Texas has experienced a lot of job growth, so it is very logical that this suburbs outside a big city like Houston took first place. Katy is relatively affordable compared to other cities close to major metros.
“Katy has had many new developments and employment growth. Having the diversified show at certain relatively affordable prices in addition to employment growth is really a factor contributing to the top of the list” said Bonakowski.
The median price of house registration is $ 379,900, while the median rent is $ 2,100, according to Realtor.com.

Houston is home to the third number of fortune companies 500, after New York and Chicago, and the proximity of Katy with the center gives residents access to a wide range of employers.
The region also houses many major companies, including Exxonmobil and the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company.

Boniakowski says that Cypress offers residents of housing inventories, employment growth and proximity to a big city.

The average value of the house in cypress is $ 404,577, up 0.8% in the past year, according to Zillow.
