What led to the fall was not immediately clear.
No other injuries were reported.
Area three detectives are investigating.
Another resident of the building said he performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived. He said his thoughts were with the family.
Marion Lenz says he was outside in front of the building when the child’s father rushed to him, begging for help, with the baby in his arms.
“You know, I went in, I got on my phone, I called 911. And like 911 was telling me how to do CPR until the paramedics came and then the paramedics came and took over and all that,” he said. “I’m still in shock. It was like you were sitting there. And you were going through everything, and like I collapsed afterwards. It was crazy.”
This neighbor says the building’s windows open sideways. And there are mosquito nets on the windows.
