1-month-old baby with ‘visible signs of trauma’ dies on Staten Island; 2 in custody

A 1-month-old baby boy died on Staten Island and detectives were questioning his parents about the infant’s death, police sources said.

Officers who went to the West Brighton Houses around 6:45 a.m. Saturday found the “unconscious and unresponsive infant,” who had “visible signs of trauma to his left arm,” authorities said.

EMS transported the baby to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Two “persons of interest” were arrested, New York police said.

Sources said detectives were questioning the baby’s parents.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation continues, authorities said.
