Warsaw:

One person died and 33 others were injured on Saturday after two explosions at a liquefied petroleum gas station in Crevedia, near Bucharest.

After the first explosion, the fire spread to two cisterns and a nearby house, causing evacuations within a 300-meter radius and a blockage of road traffic, according to the emergency situation agency (IGSU ).

Some 25 fire engines were involved in extinguishing the blaze, the IGSU said. Four people were intubated after suffering severe burns, according to the Ministry of Health.

A second explosion took place on Saturday evening at the LPG station, injuring 26 firefighters, Deputy Interior Minister Raed Arafat, in charge of the emergency response unit, told reporters.

Raed Arafat said the fire had not yet been extinguished and further explosions could occur as a third tank at the site posed a risk.
