1 dead in East Village shooting; San Diego police are investigating

Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was fatally shot in the East Village just after sunrise Friday morning, San Diego police said.
The shooting was reported in the 16th and Commercial streets area shortly before 5:50 a.m., office David O’Brien said. The area is close to the border between East Village and Barrio Logan.
Footage from OnScene TV showed police unrolling crime scene tape down a street as other officers and paramedics administered lifesaving measures to the man.
A woman repeatedly shouted, “Why? as she watched first responders work to revive the man.
He was placed in an ambulance and taken to hospital, but died of his injuries.
No other information was immediately available.
