NOW LET’S GET TO THE LATEST NEWS ON THE HIGHWAY. YEAH, RANDY. THANK YOU. SO LEADING THE WAY WITH THIS LATEST NEWS THIS MORNING, AN ACCIDENT HAS IMPACTED INTERSTATE TRAFFIC IN WARREN COUNTY. IT’S HEADING DIRECTLY TOWARDS CINCINNATI THIS MORNING. AND DANIELLE DINDAK FROM WLWT NEWS FIVE IS LIVE FOR US NEAR THIS SCENE, NEAR 71. IN THIS AREA FROM KINGS ISLAND TO MASON. DANIELLE, WHAT DO WE KNOW SO FAR? AND WHAT DO YOU SEE THERE? YEAH, MEGAN. AND GOOD MORNING TO YOU. Hours later, crews are still there trying to clean up the crash. I’m going to step aside so you can get a sense of the scene. AND WHAT FIRST RESPONDERS FACE. It was a very violent accident behind the fire truck. THERE’S A SEMI ON ITS SIDE WITH THE FRONT END CRUSHED AND ALSO ON WHAT LOOKS LIKE A FLAT BREAD. YOU CAN SEE AN SUV WITH ALL THE DOORS AND WINDOWS BROKEN. NOW THERE ARE ONCE SAVED CAR PARTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE HIGHWAY. SOUTHBOUND LANES OF 71 ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED IN THIS AREA. Now the crews are still out there trying to clean up all the parts and the fluid that spilled on the highway, and you can actually see they’re working to try to get this semi on the tow truck. ONCE AGAIN THIS AFFECTS ALL SOUTHBOUND LANES OF 71 NEAR THE WEST ROW. AND IT’S RIGHT NEAR THE KINGS ISLAND AREA, A VERY BUSY EXPANSION, ESPECIALLY WITH THE MORNING COMMUTERS STARTING TO LEAVE. NOW WHEN IT COMES TO CLOSING YOU CAN’T SEE THE BACKUP. From where I am, first responders have blocked traffic for almost half a mile and they are also preventing drivers from accessing the 71 South on-ramps in the area. And here’s what I know about the Ohio State Highway Patrol. THEY CONFIRMED ME THAT ALL OF THIS HAPPENED AROUND 140 THIS MORNING, WHICH MEANS THIS SECTION OF ROAD IS CLOSED FOR HOURS. Two vehicles are said to have been involved. From what I can see from my vantage point, it looks like this semi truck that’s on its side and an SUV. BUT WE ARE STILL WORKING TO CONFIRM THIS AND THERE IS STILL NO NEWS ON INJURIES OR HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE POTENTIALLY INVOLVED. NOW WE SHOULD GET MORE INFORMATION SOON, BUT ONCE YOU CAN SEE HERE, THE 71 IS STILL FLOWING NORTH, BUT THEY HAVE A FEW LANES, THE 71 NORTH IS CLOSED BECAUSE ONCE AGAIN ONLY DEBRIS S ‘SAVE ON THE NORTHBOUND LANES. BUT ONCE AGAIN ALL SOUTHBOUND LANES IN THIS AREA ARE CLOSED. WE WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE YOU WITH ANY NEW DEVELOPMENTS, WHETHER ON TRAFFIC OR IF WE FIND ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CRASH. But for now, I’ll send it back to you. YEAH. AND DANIELLE, YOU CAN REALLY SEE RIGHT BEHIND HER IN THIS PHOTO. HOW SLOW THIS NORTHBOUND LANE IS. HERE IS JUST NORTH OF DANIELLE. THIS IS ACTUALLY NEAR KINGS ISLAND WHERE PEOPLE ARE DEVIATED. RIGHT. SO IT’S ACTUALLY JUST NEAR WESTERN ROW ROAD. They go to WESTERN ROW ROAD, taking an innovative path to cross Mason Montgomery and trying to avoid the area where this wreck is. So we’re starting to see backups there as you try to head south where they’re trying to divert traffic. OF COURSE, THIS IS THE MAIN PROBLEM WE SEE THIS MORNING. THIS ROAD BLOCKS SOUTHBOUND 71 JUST NEAR THE WEST ROW. Uh GEAUGA. GOING ALL THE WAY DOWN IN THE MASON MONTGOMERY ROAD AREA. So another thing to keep in mind is that the southbound lane is closed. The northbound lane is going really, really slow. WE WILL KEEP AN UPDATE ON THIS ALL MORNING FOR YOU BECAUSE WE EXPECT A LOT, ESPECIALLY GIVEN

One person has died after a crash involving a tractor-trailer near Mason closed southbound lanes on I-71 Thursday morning, according to the Ohio State Patrol. According to Ohio Troopers, a crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. involving two vehicles that forced the closure of southbound I-71 from Western Row to Mason-Montgomery/Fields Ertel. WLWT cameras can see a tractor-trailer being groomed at the scene. Southbound lanes were closed for most of the morning, but some reopened around 7:30 a.m. OSP says a full version should arrive soon.
